My hunny said she saw a big truck pull in my mom's driveway yesterday afternoon. I drove by on my way home from work to see what was happening.
A local tree service had just cut another big oak and the property owner only wanted the small wood......yep, we got lucky...

    Nice!

How often do you get a load of wood like that?

I think it dries faster than other oak species, probably because it’s a fast grower for an oak.
Every big city and college campus in NC has Willow Oak lined streets.

Nothing wrong with that! Youve got the room and equipment for big logs. Some nice splits to come from those. Hopefully its not too hot next week for you.

How does willow oak compare with red or white oak?

It's in the red oak family, probably a little softer than red, grows and dries faster.

Yes sir, the orange and white one just had some kittens somewhere, she will be occupied. The grey and white one, Oscar, gets so tired watching us work... 0505211825.jpg
Even the splitter is a good place for a nap. Maybe he was wanting me to take a break...

Looks to me like he was proving to you he is not scared of work. He is willing to lay down right next to it and go to sleep.:zip:

He's not scared. He has stood on a round wanting me to pet him, with the splitter running, I eased the wedge into the wood, he finally hopped off as the wood moved under his feet...lol
