Yes, it seemed like she was really improving. She had put on 1.2 lbs which is a lot for a 12 lb dog. Saturday she had gone for our 1 hour woods walk and was off exploring and really enjoying herself. Saturday night she decided to sleep in her crate and not on our bed. Sunday morning she got sick and did not want to eat at all that day but was still drinking water. Monday morning we made an appointment with our Vet which is 3 hours away. We were hoping to do some blood work to see if she could be helped, but by the time we got to the Vet, things had really gone down hill. We went directly to the comfort room and she died before they could give her an injection. She had breathed her last. I'm very glad it was so fast!
She was small and did not look the part but you could go on a 2 hour hike into the woods where no trails existed and then tell her "let's go home" and she would lead you the exact way you came in!
When we had our last one put down as a merciful act her heart just wouldn't stop beating. The vet cried. It's tough when some organs are failing and others are tough as nails.
So sorry to read this. I have showed my wife pictures of Cricket a few times as we had a rat terrier named Harley that was the spitting image of Cricket. We lost Harley about 4 years ago to complications of diabetes.
She was a very sweet little person loved nothing more than to give my face a wash , and liked to sleep between our pillows !
That's what is great about this site. You all have helped me through some tough times. Just repaying the favors.
It is always sad to read of the passing of one of the pups. Always enjoy the happy stories of their lives. Sympathies
