Just finished up on this ported 026 complete redo project. Installed a 16"es 3/8 bar with a oregon lgx full comp. Converted this chain to square chisel and I must say it cut very good. Anyone else converted 16" chain to square chisel and whats your opinion of how it cut?
I Love (READ: LOVE) how you did the 026 tag up front. An old school tag up front and Pro sticker in the back!! Welcome to FHC Keith! ! Glad to see your face (avatar) over here I look forward to a video of that saw! Great looking rebuild! My hat is off to you sir!
New plastics? That looks absolutely cherry. Is that mesh your own addition or standard? Welcome to FHC!
New bottom end bearings, seals, gasket, ported mahle cylinder, meteor piston and rings, modded muffler, new ignition coil and wiring, new clutch and bearing, new bar studs, new 16" es bar with oregon lgx chain filed square, new stihl clutch cover with captive bar nuts, advanced timing, wt194 walbro rebuilt, new plastic with metal nameplate. Painted crankcase, new starter spring and pawls and the screen on top between covers I added
That is MS 260 plastic with an 026 badge and I must say I love it. Not having the name plate in the traditional spot, or the Pro in the traditional spot looks great. Normally, the Pro is up front by the 026 badge, and the badge is where the Pro is. But an 026 had a flat top, to accommodate the insert in the back. The 260 has the number on the recoil cover. So they made the top round (just like they did with the top to the 360) Great saw!! Love it! How did you affix the screen? That's a great idea on any older Stihl that does not have the new filter technology.
Dex that took some engineering! Lol! On the air filter housing I dremeled a channel all the way around for the screen to slide into and shaped the screen. I then put the standard wire cover back on and it holds the screen in place really well. I left about an inch of screen to extend under the front cover so You have to put the filter housing on first and then the top cover
Saws looking great, the 026 is a great little saw. That is the saw I use almost all the time around home and usually the saw I pick up to do any limbing after felling
Very nice work, I want to ask where you got the screen you used. I am in the process of buying an old Poulan that needs a bit of it to keep critters out of the EP, saw was not manufactured with a muffler!
Added a tach to handle and a orange screwdriver behind handle for onboard manual mtronics!!! Lol. Testing 87 octane tomorrow vs vp94 in the 026 ported by myself and testing it also in the 362c Masterminded
