that is quite something. I think the two different time pictures of the marina were quite startling. The last picture of the abandoned water intake pipes was very sobering.
So I have this bucket that I keep taking more out of than gets put in, I don’t know why it’s always empty...
Have kayaked from the output side of the dam down that river. Amazing little canyons and whatnot. Rattlesnake under your camping toilet will get you watching out for your cajonés.
Not to worry, there's plenty of water in Las Vegas. How can ya go wrong with a population of over 2 million in the greater LV metro area? I mean sure, it was desert, but it's not now.
It might, but I don't see the moneymakers in LV giving in without a serious fight. Remember, there's 5 Great Lakes they will still want to tap into. Edit.. I can already see Eminent Domain lawsuits to gain access. After all, we all need to share the resources, even if some places were extremely poorly thought out.
Colo foolishly sold tons on water rights decades ago for CA, AZ, NV, and Mead too from Powell (which is alarmingly low), short term profits for misery later. Watering restrictions even with high snow pack Let's not forget CA letting it's watershed flow to the ocean instead of using it-nope, they take from elsewhere instead.
Unfortunately all too often politicians see the dollar signs and then figure, well I probably won't be in office by the time it's a problem. Kinda like when the market fixated on short term profits vs long term stability.. hence the housing market debacle. Some loans were granted without proof of employment or ability to repay.. but it wasn't an issue, they were gonna bundle and sell off the mortgages anyway.
Anyone recall UAE (or another country out there) in the news a long time ago for it's tech on desalinization of sea water? Too bad they can't do that for AZ & CA & NV.
