You could always build a big wooden privacy fence. Like this but taller. Maybe with some framing you could make a double tall. Kind of hard for them to complain if they can’t see you for the forest, split and stacked. 879D01B1-A7F4-4263-85CB-93DDA9C68885.jpeg

You are totally missing the point of this whole interaction. This person thinks you are wrong and you are trying to logic your way through it. The world doesnt work like that. You need to find a different way to communicate.

But then again, I wouldn't like heavy trucks and a processing mill next to my place either.

    Communicate how?
No heavy trucks nor processing mill here.

When diplomacy fails, there is only one alternative: violence. Force must be applied without apology. ---Capt Janeway

We haven't failed at diplomacy, violence is not an option here, but force may be necessary...through the law. I've had fun thinking of vengeful things to do, but I haven't got the time nor spirit for that sort of thing

My thoughts exactly. Just gotta find a way to make that stack kinda bomb proof, so they don't screw with it and make it fall on them, their property, fence, cat/dog thing. Am looking into video surveillance/trailcams anyway.
I'm doing rounds on the property a couple times a day, quietly. Pics and notes being taken.

If they have a cat I wonder if it's bringing dead chimpmunks into the house after hunting lol. Refresh my memory? Are they standing on a second floor deck to see into your yard? Or walking up and looking over your 6' fence? Very few women can see over a 6' fence.

There's been a couple threads here previously on members camoflauging their stacks for neighbors or city inspectors. Also, I was thinking maybe a vegetative screen? Hopefully they don't push it any further now that they know you have a wood stove and burn it. As well as coming after you for donating wood to a Pastor would not look well.

Oren Klaff wrote a book, maybe the art of the sale... something like that. You are selling something and your neighbor isn't buying.

Dog trying to be a cat I think.
First floor deck, raised, eats up a puny 6' fence pretty easily. They should gone for the 8' or the permit for a 10', or a screen for the porch area.
But, we're not out there even daily even. Normally in and out to drop a load, yard work another day, hang laundry (all year).
A big ole fence on my part would probably do, if needed. But, I don't need it.
Not sure they know we burn, but the permit shows the install.
If I wrote to town about all the things we do....mowed their lawn once before the fence, when he was laid up after surgery...raked and hauled their leaves off, same surgery; helped them with their tree wind damage, offered to cut their trees while I was doing mine, picked up sticks that laid in their lawn for weeks, brought wood to Pastor S, and to a 90 yr old vet (who helped us with gas money essentially).

    oh well. We'll see.

Now that they know you burn they'll complain about the smoke .....

Some times you're better off just listening and offering nothing in defense.

Good deal Dave. Id feel the same in your position as well. Once the yard is filled up with rounds then there might be reason for concern. ;)

That would be a sight, the whole west side, rows and rows of tidily stacked and covered cordwood. Dear Wife should report me at that point!

billb3 They didn't know we burned, they won't next year either. The prevailing winds are away from their place, and the chimney cap is a solid 18' above their second floor (because we're a floor higher, and up the hillside by 6 -8' vertically).

I kinda avoided saying too much, but he did ask a fairly direct question. I'm not particularly evasive or suspicious to begin with, but, the question about burning isn't a secret by any stretch.

However, when building the shed, he asked if it was a compost pile like the one round back. I almost said, but didn't, " talk to my atty". From here on out, I kinda feel like being vague and evasive.

And shaping a document to answer the town when they ask or give me a cease and desist order against selling wood here. Sca

Have the solution. 2 am scatter ten thousand black locust seeds over the top of the fence. By next year he won’t approach that fence to ask questions again. ;)

My observation is that people like that have a major underlying issue. Maybe their life sucks, they are jealous, work is not going well, bitchy wife I could go on. Generally unhappy people.
I think you should just let him vent and ignore him. All the while stockpile your ammo, pictures, notes with dates and times of confrontation, pictures of your stacks ect. Add to your war chest as you think of things.
Then hopefully it will go away and none of it will be necessary.
Better to diffuse the bomb than clean up the mess. Life is too short for this crap.

    Agreed, life is too short.
Perhaps we've messed up their tidy sterile lifestyle,
    Perhaps it is jealousy,
Our place was abandoned for a few years before us...their quiet and undisturbed privacy has gotten less so.
Yup stock piling photos, walking the perimeter a time or two a day, unobtrusively.
Noticing a surprising lack of ants in my yard.
    Three chipmunks pushing up daisy's.
Zero groundhogs, zero rats, and zero termites.

Dog is learning to leave mines along the fence line..

Actually, since the fence is ON the property line (so far as I can tell), the neighbor has to trespass to mow what he thinks is his grass on my side of the fence. So, mines appropriately placed.
