And the continues...... We were removing the toilet last night, of course the flange bolts and washers were bad rusty...broke the top of the bolts off, couldn't get the nuts off...managed to get most of the washer off... 1 side came right through the hole in the base, the other side..........decided to hang and break the base all the way to the wax ring...... Now, we get a new toilet as well... Then added spacers under the floor flange since we are tiling the floor. Found out 1 of those screws wasn't holding good, hole around pipe was a little big. Took the spacers out and made 1 from a piece of 1/2" plywood that fits tight to the pipe. Flange holds great now.
Are you going to get a toilet that has a higher seat than average? Also, if the budget allows, slow close seat and lid.
I'm still green with envy on Jack Straw 's upstairs walk in shower No doubt the same with yours Jeff.
Nice work Jeff, looks like it'll be awesome once done. Chazsbetterhalf and I have discussed a walk in shower as well. Not a project I or the wallet look forward to. 2 most expensive rooms in a house are generally the kitchen, followed by the bathroom.
And this would be the reason my remodeled bath still has no linoleum. Being my only bathroom, I'm nervous about something stupid happening to make it unusable for a couple of days. I figure all of the above would happen to me (and there would probably be a toilet shortage - because that is how my luck usually rolls). Oh, and by the way, according to the news last night there IS a porta-potty shortage and the rental price has tripled . I can see IM'ing my boss a couple of times a day - I gotta go tinkle, be back in 30 minutes
Day was kind of a bust. They showed up about 11, installed shower valve and shower head, trimmed the sheetrock for the base, got more measurements and left. Maybe here for 1 1/2 hrs... Then called this morning, said the base wasn't to their specifications, going to redo it and come Wednesday...... Glad we still have half their $$$
Thanks brother. I didn't look forward to this one as well...put it off for several years. We finally got the new laundry room finished, so the washer/dryer/water heater could be moved, and I have made a lot of OT since November... We did our kitchen probably 10 years ago, did the majority of the work ourselves then too.
