Another species of tree threatened in Ct. Beech.

As if this state doesn’t have enough dead trees already.

Ive seen the beech bark disease around here in my woods. Part of the tree dies and snaps off. Have to look for that one too.

 

Someday Tree of Heaven and Virginia Pine will battle for tree world supremacy.

 

*both covered in healthy poison ivy and surrounded by understory buckthorn.

 

The ecologist, Tom wessels, who has some great forest- related videos on YouTube, describes beech tree problems as being probably the most worrisome current forest issue.

 

"Reading the Forest Landscape" videos are really good. I'm about due to re watch those. The guy who made those videos, has a bunch of others too. I think it's "New England Forests" or something like that. If you like the woods and history, he's got some good stuff.

Darn. Hope it stays under control. I love beech trees.
