Wow, well said. Also working/engaging with people on a daily basis, most try to get along, and avoid hot button issues. Online is the exact opposite. I have a friend who is one of those who keep posters of politicians in his house. Believes every ridiculous conspiracy theory, and brings up politics every time I see him. I never engage in political conversation with him I just let him talk. I get along with him just fine, and I like the guy honestly, If he was on here I would be using that ignore function in a heart beat, but since I know him in day to day life I just try to get along.
Conspiracy theories you say? What's your friend's name? Maybe he knows something's brewing that I haven't caught wind of yet! I need to know where to build my bunker for when they come for us! Yes it's great if you can rise above the ideological differences and just let someone be themselves without trying to make them see whatever the "truth" is from your own point of view. Such is true in a lot of situations if one hopes to keep the peace. Marriage included! There are certain topics I *know* not to bring up. Which begs the question, are any of us ever really free to completely bare our souls to another human being without fear of negative consequences? Or is that right reserved for people half in the bag, belting out gibberish to the bar fly next to them from the comfort of their bar stool?
I love you guys. Remember the ignore option is a great option to keep the peace. I just realized who to utilize this on. Don't want to insult them with my old grumpy self. Life is good hoarders. It is better without drama.
Me too. If one wants to discuss hot topics, there are other forums to do so. I personally didn't look at that thread as it just doesn't interest me (I have my viewpoint, but will not change anyone's mind discussing it in a forum, so why raise my blood pressure). We have a lot of variety that is discussed here, but this pretty much sums it up:
A signature is not a thread, nor argumentative. Nobody is (Banned) unless there is multiple infractions and then there are many warnings given by the Administrators before anyone is Banned! We know who has more than 1 account here. I'll also say this; Yes, things go both ways with Mods and members. Us Mods (POLICE) each other for the record. It happens and I'll be point blank with this statement, You can put what you want within reason in your signature as long as it's not vulgar. NOBODY, NOBODY is truly neutral! Everyone has a choice and an opinion. All we want to do is stop any kind of fighting and aggressiveness before it gets out of hand.
I also want to note, If you want to have a political discussion and bash the $#!T out of anyone you want, Make a PM and invite as many people as you want in it. There is a button to add other's into your discussion. Nobody can see it, Admin nor Mods. Just remember, we don't police or can fix HURT feelings. What happens in a PM, stays in a PM! But there is this just in case... https://bitsandpieces.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Hurt-Feelings-Report.pdf
BTW.. if my membership on the forum depends on my posts in the thread.. Deal struck to legalize pot in New York Please boot me now.. I'm not into suspense. Thanks
It was fun, but the discussion’s end was a foregone conclusion as soon as it was brought up. Those darned kids with their loud Elvis Presley records, leather jackets, cafe racer motorbikes and the devil’s lettuce...
Go ahead Loon , you first. It’s still illegal in my state until tomorrow at midnight I’m sure by 12:15 AM that day the sky will fall in as well
