I set my timer last night to be ready for tonight so I could share.

Just at the gloam of the day, we enjoy these guys go to roost.
In the morning they sound like trash bags falling to the ground.

Last year when the poults were a few weeks old, they would fly up to the barn roof with the hens leading and into the old maple trees for the night. They are loud taking off. Pretty neat to watch.

They are kinda comical watching them fly up to roost. Not at all a graceful thing.

Last archery season I watched some go to roost. Next morning I told my son to watch the big tree next to his stand. Daylight came and it sounded like bowling balls coming out of the trees. One was right above his head. Scared the crap out of him. It was neat to watch them and hear their calls. Never saw them go to roost or out before.

Several years ago I was sitting on a tree stand in October when a stupid turkey flew up and landed on a limb really close to me. After it realized what I was it was nervous for a while but stayed. They are dumb birds.

Like a helicopter, they don't so much fly but beat the air into submission.
