Please remember that Memorial Day weekend is more than just a long weekend. Thank you to all who are, or were, in service to the US. If you are out and notice a member of the military, stop and thank them. If at a restaurant, pick up their bill. It's an amazing feeling to be able to do this. I have this at the bottom of my driveway. I hear horns blow a few times a day. It's not much, but it seems to be appreciated.
We have a new neighbor that goes rucking for veteran health and services awareness. Sometimes just locally after work or a bit more adventurous on the weekend. He has the backpack and other gear and carries a rather large American flag. The flag is on a pole so it flies above his head, proudly. Too many karens and loonies (keep in mind this is unfortunately and sadly a woke blue state) call the cops because apparently in their sick, perverted, media-brainwashed minds he is some kind of 'threat'. This weekend, today I think, he's rucking from Boston to <somewhere south> about 65 miles. Hoping he gets more thumbs up than the usual ignorance.
We have to go to a picnic today and instead of having a memorial day picnic, its Christmas Eve, because they missed it last year. I'm not very happy and told the boss lady, Im not keeping my big mouth shut. ( its her side of family), about how I feel. It may be a short picnic for me.
A reminder that Memorial Day is not about those who served…. It is about those to made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us…. We can’t thank them…. But we can honor their memory with our words and actions.. I look forward to Memorial Day each year. The local Legion posts the flags each year. Volunteers carry out the flags as the Legion commander reads the names. It was an honor to carry out not only my father's flag but several other veterans who went before us. God rest their souls....they earned the peace.
