I have heard of snake river. That is a mecca of fly fishing. I actually thought the cut throats were all the same so thank you for teaching me a new fact today!
I think lake trout are also pretty common so that make a sense why they would want to control the population.

Cold and gloomy here. I even got the fireplace fired up again. It died down in the afternoon and my dog huffed at me to put another log on. That was pretty funny.
I did some "air root" tree propagation for a juniper and a red maple. If it works, I will turn those into bonsai trees.

2 days short of my record last fire, but I needed to light one this morning. 61F in the house, and only supposed to get up to 50 today with more rain, so no solar gain.

We had to cancel Charlotte's birthday party yesterday, and came up with a plan B with 2 friends. Luckily, that went well. Had to push her reschedule date way out because it shows rain in the forecast for next weekend right now, and then prior commitments out into July.

Thats good to hear. Lake trout are very good at eating other fish, and they get BIG.

Here's a little more about that issue
Lake trout on the decline in Yellowstone Lake | Trout Unlimited

I knew they eat a lot, but per this article, 1 lake trout can eat 40 cut throats a day!!!

With the frost advisories we've had, we held back on planting or bringing the flowers to the cemetery, today I made the trip to my old hometown and planted some Orange Marigolds and came back and helped the wife with the flowers for my MIL and FIL.

We'll have to get the boat out soon while we have enough water.

Well it's practically a heat wave in Missouri then. Kids finished school on Thursday at 1pm and it was 83F. Storm blew in hard and heavy and it dropped to 53F. Today it finally got back above 60s and stopped raining.

Welded on the 3 point hitch/log skidder some more.

Set up electric fence for the youngest kids chickens. We have lost 3 to a fox the last month.

Split wood for about 2 hours on the log splitter. Getting close to 3 cords split and stacked. Have another cord of oak cut, needing split.

Heat wave is right, compared to some. All the summah people / tourists would have loved to see those temps for hitting the beach and lakes. Saturday NH saw a record high - lowest high on record at 48*. Yesterday it got up to 52. Today is projected be 57.

**All temps are for Concord, NH - my area has run a couple of degrees colder - but not significantly so.

I figured you would get that as we had a high of 45 a couple days ago. Yesterday it warmed well into the 60's after a cold start with 33. It is in 40's this morning and predicted to hit 72 and sunny today so this will probably reach you too.

My area has avoided the majority of rain all year so far. Right now last 48 hours we are sitting at 3/4 of an inch. Raining but very lightly. Good for the garden.
