Last night and tonight I have the woodstove burning. 61 degrees house yesterday. 63 degrees in here this afternoon. Last night had the house back up to 70 before I went to bed. Cold rainy here in CT for the last 2 days.
Same here..... mid 40s Thursday,Friday and Saturday night. It sure is nice to be ahead with dry wood!
48 here, came home to a toasty stove and soup. 'Course this is our first year with a wood stove. If it was 48 and sunny, that would be a different kinda day. Sca
Threw the match in the furnace at 5 this morning and went back to bed. Wife came home from work at 7 and added a couple more sticks. Might have to do the same tonight.
I'am in Arkansas and I hadn't had a fire in several days, but my wife asked me to build one, this afternoon. So, I build a small one to knock the chill off, and then I noticed the central cooling air conditioner was kicking on, as we had been using it a little bit. So, I had to shut the air off. In Arkansas you sometimes need both the heater and the air conditioner on the same day. NO Kidding!
We've had the wood stove lit this weekend. Today might be the last, as temps return to normal this week.
No fire this morning but have had a few fires lately. Yesterday morning was 33. A couple days ago we had a high temp of 45. Yes, the stove was used and kept the house a bit on the warm side. It just does not take much heat when the outside temp is above freezing.
Yup here too. NEVER have I had a fire this late in the year. Hard to believe it is happening. Cold outside and very damp here , 63 in the house this morning so I fired up the stove. Plenty of shorts and ugly pieces that are perfect for a smaller fire so why not use them. Beats paying the oil man.
Sounds like a lot of you need to spend less time scrounging for wood and more time working on the insulation and air sealing of your homes...
Had the boys bring in a bunch of shoulder wood on Thursday Been keeping the stove mostly lit with spruce over the weekend including one this morning. May be the last till September I know I’ve burned once in very early June, 2 or 3 years ago. This weekend is the first fire in a month or better.
We turned the window AC unit on (wifi) before heading up Thursday evening. It hasn't been on since. But the propane heater and wood stove have! I'm used to the occasional late spring/early summer fire. But to burn for this many evenings in a row is first.
Lit the boiler back up Thursday & it's burning itself out today. Weird weather, low spots had frost yesterday morning.
Yeah (close to) record cold temps here. First night the indoor temps didn't drop a lot but the second night required a few pine splits , again in the morning. This time of year it's not uncommon to wake up with the house cold because someone opened a window upstairs because it was 80ºF outside or even just nice enough to want some fresh air and forgot it was open.
