I saw footage on the weather channel this morning showing the wind and rain from Syracuse. Thought of you.
Had an F-2 hit our house head on in ‘89 and it tore up the place. Peeked parts of the roof if, took the chimney, broke a maple ten ft up and spun it around like a top scraping the siding in front of the house and part of the roof. Every screen on the windows for ripped and glass broken. Wife’s car got beat up and the new garage door blew in. We were picking glass out of the lawn for 15 years. I’ll take rain next time...I think.
Same here. Stayed cooler than normal in March and April, especially at night. Then turned dry, then hot and dry. Hay didnt cut out near what it should have/usually does for most everybody. Pastures are bout gone, hay soon if we don't get rain. Praying we get what they say is coming tomorrow and Saturday...
I got the backyard workshop up and running finally yesterday. Put the tent back up, built a new shelf for storing pre cut lumber, and then went and bought 100 8' PT deck boards and 60 PT 2x4's My local lumber yard is cheaper than HD and Lowes, and it still cost me $1700! The guy we hired is a machine, and he cut everything up for me, so now I need to go back today and buy the rest of their deck boards that are in stock this morning, then a busy day of building more kitchens. Charlotte's 7th birthday is tomorrow, and we were going to have a party for her here with a bounce house and a bunch of kids since she didnt get a party last year. Of course the weekend will be a washout. We may get lucky and not have to cancel, but will make that call later today.
And doesn't that include having to to write on the chalkboard "There's no such thing as too much firewood" 100 times...like Bart in the beginning of the Simpsoms???
39 degrees with wind/hail & rain here. Not unheard of for May around here but rare nonetheless! Lit a fire in the stove, first one in about a month.
That cant be anything more than a contractor gouging. You're probably looking at about about $1500 in materials. The deck boards are about $14-15 each max, and you would need about 20 of them, then the framing, which is definitely nuts. 2X12X8 PT is something like $75 now, and you would need maybe 12 of them tops. Stairs will add, as will railings, but thats A LOT of money they quoted you. Bid it like you dont want the job I guess?
Chaz and Chazsbetterhalf , does your area have anything up yet on this? This is for our area. Turning cooler exactly 1 day after the mini split is to be installed (but until then, 90's and humid). I predict the rest of the summer will mysteriously turn cold, and never warm back up to even average for NH - because that is the way thing roll for me
