Up in Erie for a wedding I'm in and enjoying the lake. I'm from North East, Pa for anyone familiar with Northwestern Pa or lake Erie. We were supposed to go on a fishing trip but the waves were too high to leave the bay. I know a lot of you guys are from Ohio and Michigan so you understand the beauty of the great lakes. To the right of the pictures Presque Isle ends and you head out into lake erie.
This is probably familiar to a lot of you in the great lakes and rust belt. The three stacks are from Erie International Paper which is long gone. The single stack is from
Enjoy your time at the lake. I have been right where your at.. It's always a treat to be on the lake... We just came back from a family vacation in Sandusky for 4 days.. Watched the sunsets every night.
We just visited Presque Isle on Wednesday afternoon, first time in 25 years. We had a great afternoon visit.
Here's a Presque Isle County, MI sunrise over Lake Huron. And what's left of the beach. We lost 20-30' over the winter. Actually, we had a day of rain and lost 2-3' overnight. Locals say it happens, might have it all back next summer.
I think one of those stacks is the coke (coal) plant. My buddy used to keep his boat docked close by and was constantly fighting coal dust. I spend several weekends a year in Erie, PA, wonderful place for outdoors people. The presque isle beaches are beautiful and the fishing is top notch!
Yeah my post cut off for some reason..beer.. The single stack to the right is Erie Coke. Not sure how much they do anymore.
*sigh* wish I was there today. The wind is weird in Erie and WNY. One minute nothing...the next a storm. Fronts roll through fast.
My wife and I took a lot of our wedding pictures at and near the house in the bottom pic. There were some cool dunes with that old fence that turned out great in black and white.
