I cant explain this one. :picard: I DIDNT DO IT! Let me tell you the story.
Tree on the property line of my friend and the neighbor. My friend has a friend he hires to do odd jobs and asked him to fell a couple dead white oaks in his back woods. Many killed off by gypsy moths a few years back. He mistakenly started to cut this one down and my friends wife threw him off the job when she saw him struggling (no pun intended) The neighbor calls me complaining that tree is on his property and i wasnt getting involved. I called my friend and told him its way too dangerous for "Nick" to fell that the way he was. He had no safety equipment, walks with a severe limp, made no escape route and the tree was full of wodowmakers. I talked to my friend and he asked me to take care of it. I didnt even wanna go near it as 20% of the meat still attached and it was a mess. I was going to use a hydro car jack in back and notch the front (it didnt have a notch and have wanted to try the technique). This was about a month ago and i said the wind would probably blow it down. Didnt happen even with a few good winds. Safe regardless of fall direction.
His friend shows up at 630 o_O the other morning and cuts it down! I get a text from the neighbor later saying he cut the tree down. My response was is he alive! He did this without any okay. IMG_4922.JPG IMG_4917.JPG IMG_4918.JPG IMG_4921.JPG IMG_4919.JPG Nick is the type you cant tell anything. Ive tried to explain to my friend. He will cut with a saw so dull it smokes. Ill buck up the tree for my friend as i dont want the wood and Nick will cut ten different lengths but the right one. I do want the maples taken down as collateral damage.

I can't even read that stump, other than knowing it's in a real bad foreign language. God watches out for children and fools, but if he dances like that with many more trees like that he might not have to worry about that limp.....

That stump almost looks like it was done by a beaver. That white oak will be good burning wood, the maple too!

I hope it's not the 4xx series, as that's what I use. They work fine, but aren't pro saws.

A beaver would have done much, much better.

That stump reminds me of a small one on our place. A Mexican guy cut it and I was going to cut the stump but decided to leave it because even I need a good laugh sometimes.

Oh my. As I said in the other thread, I'm no expert in felling, but this attempt is just silly. Looks like, given where the tree ended up, that is rolled sideways off the stump. Who knows where this one could've gone. Glad nobody was, evidently, hurt.

    Somebody likes cutting wedges ...

Well it's not really all that much different than chopping one down with an axe, right ?

Wow. What does it take but about 15 minutes on the internet on how to fell a tree to find out you need a face cut and then a back cut. Those names do have a certain meaning after all.

What this guy does to a chainsaw is pathetic regardless of brand. I think its a Rancher 460??? 24" bar. Not sure of the smaller model.
