I went into my local rental place to rent a scissors lift for working on my roof area, they also are a Stihl dealer so as I'm doing business I happen to glance at some (stacked up bars) on a shelf with dust on them, so I asked... He told me a guy, local tree service ordered 7 bars last summer. Never came to pick them up after repeated calls and e-mails. He said; "You interested in one"? They are last years prices! I said sure, let's see what ya got. He had 3 of the 36"'s and I JUST HAD to have one!!! I'm half tempted to go back and buy the other 2. At this point in the game, they just want them sold. Yes, And he gave me a military discount! $78.00 out the door.
Advantage rental, Ocean view! He had 2 @20" , an 18" and a 24" along with the 3 @ 36". I think those tree guys cut those bog pines up there in the Barrens, they get enormous.
Do it...I'm sure you can unload them here if you decide to...I'm thinking you wouldn't have to try too hard to sell me one now that I think about it...hmmm...
Nice deal! Good price as i paid $100 for a barely used 36" Stihl B&C back in February. I dont remember what saws you have Dave? See if you could get them all cheap and sell? Wanna see you in action with it in NH!
I only have 1 that'll fit, my MS441 Magnum, but I think I can use it on my 390, I can't remember. I'm light on cash right now because I just dished out $876.00 for a scissors lift to work on my roof and $135.00 for a square of shingles. I gotta watch my $$$ till the end of the month till I get my chimney area squared away. If he has them when I'm done, I may go get them.
Awesome score! Now for a tangent: I grew up in Warren County (NW NJ), and at one the houses we lived in, there was an enormous oak tree that my parents had taken down. It was over 40" DBH, and closer to 43-44", IIRC. There are photos somewhere in my folks' house. It was about 30 feet from the side of the house, and after it dropped a branch the size of most Aspen trees within a couple feet of the garage, my parents decided it had to go. Even the hardwoods in the mid-Atlantic can get to be enormous if they're fortunate enough to grow unperturbed. I love the Colorado scenery and weather, but I miss the hardwood forests of the Northeast and Great Lakes states.
