I finally placed the order! Went with the “works” and used one of their designs. I kinda wanted to hold out to see if they end up making a new “Steel of the month” but decided not to. Should be getting it in May. I will make sure to post before and after pictures. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to test it for at least 4 months after install.....
Steam punk #ORN007. Charcoal with metallic grey accents. I got the generic 3 piece tool set and side hanger for IS b/c they are limited on supply for other designs. Also ordered the boot warmers as well. I may eventually order custom designs but it won’t be anytime soon. I am actually a bit concerned it will be too big for my house.
Yes. The Works comes with almost everything. The heat shield, Outside air adapter, and the hanger for the tools are the only extras you have to pay for I think. Works includes: Ideal Steel Hybrid-Basic Charcoal 210 Ideal Steel Ash Pan 210 Soapstone Firebox Liner 210 Soapstone Side Panels 210 Design (medallion, burner, andiron) -mixed Gray
Well now you can go to their September picnic open house at the factory, IF there will ever be another one...
Ooohh...is that really a thing? I've been pondering the timeline of ordering and getting the stove in ready for when needed next season and the 6 month guarantee.... Edit for clarity: as in waiting till just before needing to maximize the "trial period" of the 6 months
No, I haven’t. I may though b/c realistically I won’t actually use it in any meaningful way till late October/early November. I am sure having a new wood stove in May will prompt me to accidentally use the wood stove and a/c at the same time....
I had a similar situation so before I bought I asked and they extended it. My guess is they will do it for you too. You will find these folks are very easy to work with.
Got shipping info today! Now prep time. How do I move such a thing without damaging it, myself, the floor, the wall, the kids...?
I had to move mine a few weeks ago. Actually sent it back to Woodstock for a repair. If you can find a "narrow" pallet jack put 2, 4x4s between the base of the stove (make sure the ash pan is off and the wood lays against the edge on the bottom of the steel body) and lift the whole stove up. It is a piece of cake to move at that point. I strapped the stove to the pallet jack to extra security as I had to push it up a narrow sidewalk with a slight angle and a turn. Here are a few pictures of how I moved mine.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions on moving it. I am recruiting a few co-workers. Delivery is set for tomorrow. I did have a question about pipe. The way my class A comes down is off enter and close to the back wall. I had the old stove closer to the corner so the pipe 45ed over then went down with another 45. It looked fine. This stove is much wider so I will have it as close to the edge of the tile as allowed. For looks and ease of cleaning, should I try to do a rear exit with a T or will top exit look better?
that may be true. However, if I have to use a 45 right out of the unit it may not make much difference. Anyone have some good articles about how to measure for pipe?
thank you for the link! I’ll hopefully set the stove this weekend and will measure it out. Have a local stove company coming out Monday to give me an estimate but I am leaning towards doing it myself if I can get it set before they close. 22.5’s would be nice for flow.
