My Buddy in the tree business promised me a couple Red Oaks way earlier in the year, he delivered most of one today. Got another load coming tomorrow. Already cut to length, just gotta split it up. :D Maybe 1/3 cord? +-

Nice buddy to have. Did he sneak a few white oak rounds in there too? The ones with the scaly bark? Mebbe I'm seeing things...

Possibly, he said he had a couple to take down and I could have gotten a cedar also. I'm supposed to get another red tomorrow! He's an old school Buddy of mine, been in the tree business for years! With so much building going on he almost can't (GIVE) wood away. o_O All the anti-climate change folks are on his @SS and the tipping fees are now insane! He's happy to drop it here, and I'm happy to take it! :D He gives a lot to camp grounds also.

Nice buddy to have. He delivers it and cuts it to length. What's not to like about that arrangement.

Sweet! Both red and white oak. What is there not to like. The white takes a bit longer to dry but is great firewood.

I thought when seeing this thread you just got your blood stirred last weekend when we got that big oak whacked up. lol

Yep, definitely some white oak in there as well. Doesn't split as easy as red but great stuff.

It breaks open easy enough, just can be a little stringy.

Yup! Just finished up that pile! It was about an even mix. Somebody (snuck in) about 4 rounds of pine, I split them and gave to my neighbor for his fire pit. My guess here about 1/3 cord +. I got a small ugly pile also.

Na, it's here "Just in case"... I'm down to about 2-1/2 cord and if for what ever reason we gotta stay put for another year or so, I'll have some.
