The shipping crate was just wide enough for a pallet jack to fit in. Put ply wood down through house. Used forks on tractor to unload. Only lifting was to get the stove off the crate. Congratulations
Thanks for all the congertulating ladies and gentlemen. Thanks for all the great tips! Judging by the tips it sounds like I'm on the right track.
Congrats on the new stove Brad. I'm glad to hear no symptoms as well! We missed ya last weekend for sure.
In your house it will not be easy but a good dolly works wonders. Imagine what it was like getting into my place. Call when you are ready to move it in.
I'm glad no symptoms too. You all have no idea how badly I wanted to be at the gtg. I probably started to hop in the car a half dozen times to drive up anyway.
Couple weeks was all I got. It's not like I'm in a hurry. On the other hand at this rate we could have 5 more weeks of overnight fires!
I will bring it around the back either in the back of the truck or on the trailer. I think the dingo will pick it up with the forks on. That gets me up onto the back deck. From there it's a pretty straight shot to where the stove will be. I should be able to use a ramp to get it from the deck up into the house.
Brad. I've used/ rented the Rolls And Kari (2 piece) piano dollies 3 times from my local equipment rental place. ($35/day) Once to move the Fireview in, again when i moved the FV out and the IS in and again to move a 900# safe. You will not find a better set of dollies! you don't hardly lift anything except to get the dollies under the load. Then you use the foot pedal to rotate the dolly wheels up into place. When i moved/ changed out the 2 stoves i did it entirely myself.
They are incredible! Brian has a video of his boys moving the IS around in his living room and setting it down. BrianK
Yes, I used them when we moved the Fireview in, then when we moved it out and moved the Beta Ideal Steel in, then when we moved that out and moved the production Ideal Steel in. I also used them to move huge tall filing cabinets full of patient charts around my office. They’re worth their weight in gold.
Yes I have a regular dolly. I'll give you a call when stove moving day comes Dennis. It will be handy to have an extra set of hands. Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks Tim! Looks like $20 for the day at my local rental place. That'll be money well spent.
TurboDiesel is that dolly the same as Woodstock used when they brought it to you? But Tim is right. Those things are awesome.
No when Brian and i met Tom in DC, they brought a dolly that was similar to a refrigerator dolly but it was electric and would lift straight up about 4 feet. Tom lifted the stove up and then pulled his van away from the dolly, then i backed in and he lowered it down on my tailgate.
