The game managers will almost always just say its a cat. They did it for many years here with cougars. No way we could have them here... Finally they had to admit we have cougars when people kept getting pictures and many were sighted by good people.
I know mountain lions/cougars are making a comeback in the east but this one has me puzzled. Definitely doesn't look like some large breed domestic house cat either. It's obviously not a Bobcat or Lynx. I wonder if it is a cougar with some genetic anomaly, like a white moose. The list of things it could be is pretty narrow.
I thought that also, Jon. There's got to be at least a couple good pics. I got several good pics about ten years ago of a Canadian Lynx. I just don't believe a house cat could stand so tall in that wild grassy area. You'd usually be lucky to catch a glimpse of a house cat in field grass.
Idk, to me this looks like a typical house cat. It's really tough to discern size unless you have a reference as to the size of other things in the picture.
I've spent plenty of time in unmowed grass. Field grass is at least ankle high even in the winter. A domestic cat wouldn't stand belly high in field grass. Imo
