Some locust rounds I scored on the way home from work.Noticed them stacked on the side of the road last week in someone’s yard,forgot all about it.Drove by today and by the grace of god they were still there.Not a tremendous score but free is for me
Not fair. I do logs now But in the spirit of sharing. Here’s the last of the rounds I collected the old fashioned way which involved lots of bull work. All red oak. Many noodled smaller because I carried them down a rocky ravine/brook and back up the other side. Collected in 2016, first pic is 2017 and last pic is right before I eventually got around to splitting them in 2019. Bad case of Lyme got in the way. Never would have stacked them like that if I thought they would sit so long. They were sopping wet inside that pile. There were a few pieces of Black Birch but they rotted to the point of tossing them in the pit. I’ll be burning them next year.
What the hey.... I'll play. Red oak that came crashing down right in my processing area in August of last year. I still have some more large oaks from this storm to process, but this is pushing me to the limit of what I feel like dealing with. The end result is nice though, having a lot of heart wood oak splits is a luxury. 2023-2024 will be a nicely stocked heating season. And... all re-stacked this spring. About 2.5 cord
Got the last of the big hackberry home today and bucked up the elm trunk. That elm was a fast grower. That’s a 32” bar on the 181
Wasted most of the weekend doing running around, a few fixes at the house and being lazy, but did get out of an hour with Lefty and finished the pile that I started on in December. Started by loading the stuff cut from 2021 and then worked on the rest. Lefty started to load some before we got smart and decided we would just pull the splitter down to it next weekend. He also had his first chance running the 550 and was all grins. I will check in with him today and see if the smile left his face yet.
Maybe not my best ever but definitely the most. Some were too big to be transported round.. At least 10’. Majority is 5 rows deep. other side thins out a little.
