I have a pond real close to our house. We get tons of frogs and turtles. Did you have a hard time making that vid?
It's not my video, but every time I play it outside the chorus starts again. They like to sing in the rain.
I love the sound of them in the distance...up close in my pool - 100+ of them calling out their love song, not so much. We catch and release a few mile away at least 100 of them every spring.
Spring peepers started about 3 weeks ago in the swamp here. Wood frogs were after them and now toads are calling. All great signs of spring.
I was splitting some punky elm yesterday and I found a little frog inside one of the pieces of wood. It wasn't much bigger than the end of my thumb. I let him go. I had never seen a frog inside a piece of wood before.
I found a funny frog on my cucumber plant last year. He was about the size of a pencil eraser. I have never seen such a small frog. I also saw a toad out by the wood pile. He was a neat little guy. I found some salamanders, those are pretty cool.
I had a tree frog on the ledge over the back door last Summer. Sometimes it would jump ( maybe fall ? ) going in or out the door. I'm guessing it was feeding on insects attracted to the light over the door that has a motion detector and goes off now and then during the night. Not enough to be annoying but apparently enough for the tree frog ? Also had one over the shed door, which has no light. They can change color a bit so they can be somewhat un-noticeable . Both spots stay somewhat dry due to overhangs so maybe they like dry too ?
