This will be a nice upgrade from my Southbend Turnado. And the price was right. Guy didn't want to deal with moving it. 20" swing, 60" between centers. Two steady rests, 3 different chucks, one of which is a four jaw. Now, swapping them will be a little work. Oh, there is a Rock Well drill press there two.
3 tons! I was told it was 4k lbs. Truck and trailer empty weight is 9400, this went across at 16,100. 600# was the 3'x4' cast table, Rockwell drill press.
Beautiful old piece of iron there! Those LeBlond lathes are well worth hanging on to. Most of the shops I've ever worked in had at least one. Looks like yours has an Aloris tool post AND two different size steady rests The Rockwell drill press is a great grab as well. Congratulations!
Yep on the steady rests and Aloris tool post. There are a couple of Aloris tool holders as well, but I have an Aloris and the tool holders for my Southbend, which will stay with me. There is a tool post grinder there as well. I'm not a fan of grinding on a lathe, but if it's the only option...it is what it is.
That is a nice find!!" Elizabeth and I are actually in Michigan as I type heading to Clare to pick up a 3 ton shaper. I'd definitely make room for the lathe !
