Had to go to recycling today. Turns out its closed. Compost center wasnt so i stopped there anyhow even though no room in back for wood. Havent been there since it opened last month. Lots of wood to be had. Drove around back got out to snap some pics. We just had a good downpour so muddy and sloppy. IMG_4786.JPG IMG_4787.JPG IMG_4788.JPG I looked down and found this. IMG_4789.JPG
Rinsed it off in the puddle. Stihl chain, looked like Picco super either 14 or 16" 50 drive links. IMG_4790.JPG
Checked it out tonight and fits my 201's 14" bar. Very slight bend which i straightened. Checked to see if it glides smooth through the bar groove which it did. Sharpened it up and dipped in oil.

Looks like there's some pine in there maybe. Do you burn any softwoods?

Mama Bear cringes when I say I need to go to the dump. She thinks that I always come back with more than I left with, LOL! :emb:

I wonder how many chainsaws get dumped? Rakes and pitchforks are probably common finds.

Dont think a 14" bar on my 201 is ideal for cutting whats there. He has given me the okay to cut there, but i usually grab a few rounds. There was also a couple nice birch logs too.

I dont (other than in board [kindling] form) and there is a boatload of it there. Problem is its usually all dirted up from the payloader.

I have found metal chunks and bring them back to the kiosk. I see other stuff that is found and yes, shovels and rakes. The big grinder is quite the machine to watch working.

Ive seen big landscaping trucks dump loads and could easily loose a saw.

I just was talking to one of my clients (from work) and he said they don't allow running a chainsaw @ our local recycle dumps. Are you allowed to Brad?

New company got the contract October 2019 and i made friends with the guy who runs the operation there. He said i can take wood and cut. Ive yet to cut. I drive around to the back of the mound where the commercial guys dump their loads and there is usually decent wood to be had. If you look at the pics it was a friggin mess with the mud and logs all jumbled together. Those beech (actually they are birch) caught my eye and i shouldve at least cut those. I also drive around back because thats where the men's room is :emb: Thats how i spotted the chain!

I have to bring recycling back yet so another trip is in the works. Just dont know when. If i do end up cutting there i told him i do it discreetly and thats why i drive to the back of the mound. The general public dumps on the other side of where i took the pics and its often busy.

Wish I could cut at my dump. I'd be all over that wood.
