I just got done watching an interesting exchange in my backyard between a red tail hawk and a crow. The two of them kept moving from tree to tree, taking swipes at each other with their wings and beaks. Eventually the crow moved on and the hawk found a spot up high in a sugar maple to watch my chickens. I made enough noise plinking the steel fence post nearby that eventually he took off as well. Had a small outdoor fire this evening to get rid of most of the sticks that fell during the winter. Also made one more raised bed and planted some asparagus for the long haul. Definitely looking forward to transitioning my seedlings outdoors in a few weeks, as they’re quickly filling out the solo cups they’re currently in.
I'm surprised only one crow was involved. Here, the crows would swarm the red tail and usually chase it off. They saved my chickens when we had them. Mine would stop mid-step if the shadow of a hawk passed over them. It looked as if they were frozen for a few minutes. They were like flamingoes standing on one foot.
Sorry friend. Mine is not having to turn over every 2 hours because of hips and or shoulders Too bad rottiman left, he'd have a humorous response.
I was wondering if it could even be remotely warm at this time of year. Makes me shiver just looking at the pics. That doesn't seem right. One would think at the least the courts would have notified other interested parties (at the very least, the city and county) of the case. That would be like me suing someone but that person not being notified so they didn't have the chance to put up a defense.
A surprise yesterday. Actually 2 surprises. First was finding some fiddlehead ferns up and even opening. Second was finding one of our peach trees in blossom. These things are super early this year. I do not expect the peaches will grow as this is way too early.
All the fruit trees bloomed beautifully this year. Supposed to get a hard freeze and possibly accumulating snow tomorrow night. Zone controller on the heat system crapped out this week, so we don't really have heat. I can still open the valves and turn on the pumps manually if I need to, but this house holds heat so well I don't think I'll need to.
I know the feeling. Any longer and I scream while trying to flip over in one quick movement to avoid the excruciating pain. Sometimes I feel like a rotisserie.
I tried to post a video and it says It can’t imbed url. Anyone know why that would happen? It’s a short video of what I think is a corn snake.
