My season goes from September, when I sell out, to about March when there isn't enough seasoning time left to keep going. Ended the season with two truck loads of two year old black locust. Finished with 15+1/2 cords, all hand chopped. 9+1/2 for sale and 5 or so in the big pile for myself, one sold green in January. 10 different species. This will be the first year I've had a substantial amount of locust to burn. Looking forward to that along with some oak and yew. Oak is pretty rare around here. Included a pic of the bark that fell off the locust just starting to burn. That bark burned hot and slow once it got going. Now what to do until September.

So the pic of the pile that's on fire...is that all locust bark? I have never dealt with locust. If the bark burns good, why not burn it in the stove?

    Good work. Nice stacks.
From the locust bark I’ve burned it seems like nuclear fuel. Wet/wettish it’s horrible. Once it’s dry it melts granite :)
Looking forward to trying the wood in a stove next year.

Sounds like a good business. So what takes up your time between now and September?

Metal detecting was my hobby before firewood. I still go back to it a few times a summer when the tides are out. The humpy salmon come through in august, looking forward to that.
