winch3.jpg winch2.jpg winch1.jpg I posted a while ago that i was looking to get a second tractor to skid logs out of the deep woods by my house so i wouldn't ding up my newer tractor- A few of ya said to look at a skidding winch...well i ordered one about 6 weeks ago and it came in yesterday. I messed around with it today and all i can say is WOW...its a g-d damm beast!!! This is gonna make gathering wood a so much easier, now i can get the wood that is in places that i just couldn't get the tractor to. Anyway, thanks for the advise of the forum members...heres some pics

It looks like it could drag a cabin out of the woods.

That tractor certainly is pretty, and even more so with the winch. I was nervous years ago taking my brand new tractor into the woods. I kept it mostly on my trails, using the winch to pull the logs across the rougher ground. The Kubota hydraulic filters and some of the lines are unprotected, and all it takes is a second or two of driving over a small branch that flips up and takes out something valuable. Skidders have steel belly pans. Some people add them to their tractors (fuelrod has a nice, clean example). If you aren’t going to be do an awful lot of skidding, groom your trails of branches, and take it easy. Have fun!

But you'll get no better input on what the perfect tool is for your situation than what FHC will give you.:handshake:

Enjoy your new toy for the tractor!

Update - winch is great, been pulling some big beech across a creek and up a hill- wood i never could of gotten out without it. Beast of a machine and one of the best implements ive ever bought for my tractors. Heres a pic of some beech i pulled up this morning , the pictures don't do it justice, these were big logs and really tested the tractor and winch. i learned that slow and steady is the way to go when pulling big logs... beech.jpg

    Awesome !!

    Got me drooling :tractor:

You come to the FHC with your pockets full and leave with them empty , :makeitrain"

    If it's not a chainsaw it's a tractor. Ain't it great?
