Lord, how I remember the day when somebody spent over $100 for a lawn mower! If my memory is working right the first mower I bought new was around $70 and it served us well for many moons. Then within 10 years it seemed the majority was spending $300 or more to get a riding mower. I think I held off on a rider until sometime in the 80's then bought a cheapo that was used. It really is amazing to me how much people spend for lawns and they rarely get used; they are for looks only. I wonder what my grandparents would think about this.

I don't know if I got one or not but the bank statement should show up next week so I'll know then.

I was planning to build some deer blinds but have held off and now they probably won't get built at all because of prices.

Yeah, I kind of like it too just because she was still mine. It was chilly that day and damp. I always took time off hunting just to take her on color tours. She enjoyed that.

Thanks for the birthday wishes :salute:

I’ve got a good old fashion head cold and a desire to run the smoker. Not a very good combination BUT I’m doing it. Jerky going today is about all I can do before I’m drained and have to lay down for a while.

The rest of the tree dad cut down (minus the small limbs which he's keeping for his firepit) is outside to dry.... which could be quite a while now. Been steady rain all week and looking much the same next week.

I'm hoping not next weekend, but the weekend after will bring decent weather so my road trip can go ahead as planned.

Correct me if I am wrong Backwoods Savage, but didn't you have deer blinds made out of your wood stacks? If you have enough split wood, you could put a few more blinds together.:handshake:

Free pallets. Could make them work. Might not be pretty but functional.

Did the Walmart food pickup Thursday morning for the first time.. Everything went great. Got what I wanted and the two subs where fine. I like it that when I happen to think of something I can just put it on the order list for next time. No more pen and paper. This also solved a big problem for us in other ways so Im pretty happy about it.. On another note the weather has been nice.. Was able to get outside for a little while yesterday and it felt darn good. Hope you all are enjoying the weekend.

Hooked up the water at the cottage today. Got some more tasks taken care of. Throwing away more accumulations this week.

"We" went through some older movies and found 140 in the garage that "we" will get rid of. (sigh)

It's a global issue, and I deal with it every day as a Buyer. Add in the container/ sea freight issues and it's even worse.

I worked on the ash trees in my yard for a majority of the day. It even rained on me a bit. Not super hard rain, but during the day at least it was fairly light. Stacking wood in the shed with that nice steel roof was a pleasure. Had my bluetooth speaker and my smartphone playing music.

I should get the front tree all taken care of by end of day tomorrow. They say it will be drier than today was. I can always put up my ez up and split wood under that if need be

I just bought 8 sheets (plus a damaged "freebie") of 1/2" OSB for $160 from a guy that resells leftovers/lightly damaged-rejected/seconds lumber and plywood...that stuff is running $33/sheet on sale at Menards right now!
He put the ad up an hour before I saw it...it took me 20 minutes to get there after I told him I'd take it...when I got there he said he had to take the ad down because he had 5 more responses since he talked to me!
Got me to thinking...I have a bunch (20?) of old 1" x 12" x 14' Doug Fir boards that were floorboards in my attic for the last 80 years...I went with plywood after re-insulating, so these are just in the way now...probably should sell them now! :makeitrain"

I was cutting up a red maple on my uncle’s property today that had blown down last August. After getting about 15 or so rounds off it, I looked at the root ball, the trunk, and it occurred to me it would probably be smart to cut it at the base of the trunk in case it wants to stand back up. Well, that first thought took a back seat to the second thought which was “let me cut just ONE MORE round then I’ll move to the base of the trunk” As you might imagine, that last cut did it. As soon as the saw cleared through the trunk, that tree stood right back up in spectacular fashion. It was almost comical to watch. Now I’ve got a 12 foot spar to fell when I go back there. This is what happens when you don’t go with your gut feeling. :hair:
