I was cutting recently at a score and the neighbor asks if i do chain saw work. Happens on occasion while hoarding. Some bigger limbs blown over from recent wind storms. Quoted and got the job. Brush into their woods. Usable wood bucked and stacked for their use. Red maple and cherry. Cutting wood and getting paid for it. Warm day close to 70* Three hours of work. May have more work for me as some bigger trees down on an old coop. Look in lower left corner of first pic and you can see it.
I have been doing the same. A guy with a couple hundred acres hired me to cut up his blow downs to firewood length. I actually took the job so my son could get paid. I basically work for free. He has some monster oaks and pecans blown down (36-48"). He pays us $20/hr. It ain't enough imo; he is getting off cheap. We semi-stack the limbs and just buck the wood in place and leave it, no stacking.
It’s good for your kid to work hard and get paid for it. It’ll serve him well his whole life, and although $20 an hour may seem a little on the short side to you, it’s pretty darn good money for a kid! Get us some pics of your progress when you can. We’d love to follow along

Yup. Cut a little, untangle, repeat. More work untangling the limbs. Some of them went over the fence. He has a firepit right there, but i told him the wood is too green. Split it and maybe late Summer. I actually separated the dead from green limbs
Yeah, i kinda like these little jobs. I advertised last Summer after the tropical storm and tornado to no avail. Its all referral or by chance. Sometimes repeats. If he said take the wood i wouldve left it.
Im limited as to what i can do. I dont climb. I have rented a cherry picker before and used a ladder. There was a couple small dead limbs of a huge red oak nearby and he asked about them. Nothing big and my 32' ladder would maybe reach but i said no. The two jobs on this post were nice as i didnt have to haul anything away.
Another accidental job i picked up. I had to ask land owner for permission to cut a hickory top on his property last Saturday which he said okay and i cut what i wanted. Before i cut. He asks if i was interested in leveling the mess of limbs and tops there which i quoted and he said go ahead. View from his back yard. Ran a tank through both top handles and the 261 finished the bigger stuff. Damage from a tornado May 2018. Wood was logistically difficult to retrieve and most too far gone for my liking anyhow. Had to clear about 1/3 of it for the hickory anyhow plus the oak limbs were brittle enough to trample down.
Why is it I have no problem seeing you stomping dead branches into the ground while wielding two chainsaws? Like a kid in a puddle Hey, who’s getting those logs in the last pic?
LOL!!! It was muddy there as the water table was high. All the wood stays as its too far to get out. Its a wooded area between two house on parallel streets.
No. Too far and too much punk. I still have the hickory to get out and it you look carefully you can see some huge red maple logs in the guys back yard. Some nice wood that will be in a future scrounge.
