The boy messaged me saying he knew someone moving that had some wood if I wanted it. Of course I asked is it worth it or is it some branches they didn't want to clean up. He sent a laugh and said it isn't small branches and worth my time. Big tree went down in the yard and over last 6 years they used up the small stuff in their fire pit but didn't have a splitter and just shoved the big stuff to the side. Nice dried ash! I hauled 2 loads, rolled it on as I am not as good as I once was and no longer act like a human forklift unless absolutely necessary. Cut a kerf and pound a couple wedges and this stuff is splitting beautifully. Most of them are as big as my splitting stump. Pics are of each load and evidence of it being a yard tree.
Hoping for my own lunker ash scrounge this weekend. One of my sources emailed saying that to come get the downed ash that I couldn't get to last December when things started getting snowy and muddy. Should be about 18 to 20 inch rounds... a good 30 feet of straight trunk... waiting for my saw! Looks like you got a real nice scrounge there Greenstick !
