I’d keep the plastic in good shape if you can. I’ve seen people buy and restore saws that I’d never bother with. People get sentimental about first saws, family saws, saws they used to have. I’ve seen a running 011 go for $150 and a top cover for an 024 get $25. Old building, step van, bus, semi trailer or something to stop sun fade and mildew. No telling what good 200t plastic will fetch someday. Junk piles make $ if you got space to store it. I often wonder what happens to asplund, davey, bartlett scrap pallets. Someone has the connection and heads straight to nearest flea market.
