Hello all, I wanted to put this out to save some of you some SERIOUS grief! I purchased a small 4 gallon air compressor for air nailing and quick jobs that required air for the house and shop. I have a 60 gallon compressor but it's kinda big to drag out into the driveway. :po_O

Anyway, I bought this thing back in November, Never used it. Took it out February 24th to use it for my daughters flat tire, it ran 10 seconds and quit!!! Yes, oil was fine, checked connection, plug, circuit breaker, all good! Motor did nothing. I packed it up and sent it back, nice and neat with everything that it came with. The company (SAY's), a refund will be sent to you in 3 to 5 business days, right in their terms and refunds page. HA! They received and had possesion of the Compressor March 1st, via tracking and e-mails. Well, 6 e-mails, a complaint to e-bay and PayPal and I got my $245.00 just this morning. There are many of you folks who buy tools and have nice shops, STEER CLEAR of CPO outlets! Save yourself some heartburn. Go read the negative reviews on e-bay, they're a mess. I wish I did before I purchased. :( Lesson learned! :headbang:

Glad it eventually worked out for you WeldrDave.

Now take your $ and to HF and buy something.
My dad bought a “Central Pneumatics” framing gun in 2000 and I still have it and it still works. The pancake compressor he bought to run it is still going strong at my mom’s house in SC.

I have purchased reconditioned power tools In the past and still have them today.
Sorry you had a bad experience Dave. Buying Recon tools was a good thing Year’s ago. Saved a bunch of money.

I bought a reconditioned Karcher Power washer 15 years ago and still have it, It had a new pump thats why I decided to try the Compressor. Sadly the thing ran about 10 seconds. I wouldn't have had a problem with that, but it was the way the company handled the refund. I "may" have bought another from them, not now!

Any manufacturer can get a faulty part/product now and then. It's how they handle taking care of it after the sale. I can see your point....

Harbor Freight has upped their game quite a bit. Seems Central Pneumatic and Chicago is slowly being phased out. I recently bought a Banks finish nailer and it has performed flawlessly; has me thinking I may buy the framing gun as well. HF's McGraw compressors seem to be a nice step up as well.

I'm hesitant to go back to harbor freight again...just too much problems with their stuff, and I have issues supporting their foreign suppliers anymore...they are laughing all the way to the bank sending us this junk and taking our US dollars.

yeah, I try and avoid them whenever possible. Most of their stuff is just straight up garbage. I will probably end up buying one of their US General toolboxes though unless I stumble across a great deal on a used tool truck brand. Those are great for the money.

Yeah hard to justify spending big $$ on a box, although people do it everyday...had a co-worker that ordered a $10k Matco box when I worked at the bike dealer last time...:bug:

Many of the clowns at the dealership had 10k+ toolbox full of harbor freight tools. I had a cheap box that I filled with quality tools. I ways told them that box isn’t going to make you any more money.

HF supplies over 20,000 U.S. jobs. If you all want to truly boycott foreign made products, I suggest you check the "Made in "?" labels on everything in Lowes and HomeDepot.
Don't scan those barcodes with your Asian made phones however :emb:

    Yup, been doing that too.
The reason I singled out HF (other than it was specifically brought up) is that some (many) of their items are the cheapest price out there, and also among the junkiest quality too. They are basically junk central...with a few half decent pieces thrown in here n there.
Ever seen a "made in the USA" label on anything in HF? I don't recall one...

Well I agree with you there. But as far as their tools go, if I buy them I try and go with the newer upgraded stuff. I'm done with the Chicago and Central Pneumatic lines.

After buying several tools that did not make it through 1 repair I decided that I was all set.
