Great story indeed. So glad you got everything back....even the fine Austrian Swarovski binocs? Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
My sons' bicycle was stolen one time...fairly small town...started checking the (3) local pawn shops...found it 3 days later at the one not 3 blocks from the house. All the "identifying" items had been removed, but a combination lock was still on and my son proved it was his. Criminals are not the brightest sometimes. As for my truck, we live on 10 acres with a 300' driveway...the truck sits 150' up from that and although I do leave the keys in (not in ignition), it has an anti-millennial transmission, so I got that goin for me...which is nice.
Not sure if you ever plan on selling the (recovered) truck but make sure the vehicle is reported as being recovered. I had a Jeep at a body shop back in 2013 to get the hood redone and the crackpot owner just locked the doors to his shop and disappeared. I ended up reporting the vehicle stolen and they were able to finally track down the owner of the shop so I could get my Jeep back. Never gave it another thought and sold the Jeep the next year. Well, fast forward to this year and my buddy who had purchased the Jeep was going to sell it however the Carfax report had an alert showing the vehicle as being stolen. It had years of documentation showing the vehicle was titled and registered, however that stolen red flag alert on the Carfax report stopped a buyer from getting a loan. I had to call the National Insurance Crime Bureau to get it straightened out. Our local police never reported my Jeep as being recovered so it was an issue many years later. Just something to think about.
Thanks I never thought about that. I’ll probably end up running it into the ground. Even if I do end up selling it some time down the road, it’s hard to picture someone around here worrying about a car fax report on a $1500 rig. But definitely something to keep in mind
If anything make sure you don't go to jail accused of driving a stolen vehicle if you get stopped...wouldn't that be something, getting arrested for stealing your own truck!
I’m just seeing this story and my first reaction was oh no the chainsaw. My wife’s car got stolen years ago. She always left the keys in the ignition of her black crx. It was found a few days later in another county. It had been washed, waxed and interior cleaned. Got it back in better condition. Glad you got your truck and firewood tools back.
