Was that from the rock you hit the other day? Still able to salvage? I still havent sharpened the chain i killed the same way. Took it off the saw last night and put it in the vise to grind. (Ive started using my cheapo Harbor Freight Dremel on badly dulled chains.) Luckily not too bad and only a 14" chain
Yep. It’s been a while since I did that. Had no idea it was there and ran into it full bore (more cuss words here, lol). Slow day at the office so I’m fixing it.
What size bar are you running? Mine has a 28” but ordered a 24” to go with it as well. I ran mine for a few cuts over the weekend and was impressed, but the 28” made it quite nose heavy. Actually complete saw was heavier than what I was expecting as well but it’s a runner for sure.
Mine is a 28 inch as well. It's a heavy saw for sure . I have a 450 rancher that I use for smaller stuff and the 572 does all the bigger felling and bucking. Keep the rpms up and the 572 will pull through everything. I will be upgrading to a light weight bar soon, but I have to atleast wear the paint off of this one first!
Yeah, I feel ya on wearing the paint off a little........., but kinda wishing I would have bought a 20" instead of the 24" but have heard the 24" balances the best?? I watched a few videos of cotontop on youtube running a 572 with a 20" bar and that thing is crazy fast. Which lightweight bar combo are you looking to try? I haven't swapped the 24" on it yet but will probably give it a go next time I cut...let me know how yours fairs with more use.
I'm really not sure what bar would be best. I like canons stuff but it requires an adapter to run on the huskys, not sure if I like that.

I had looked at the SugiHara and they are quite pricey as well but get good reviews. I also "saw" a Husqvarna branded BLACK looking lightweight bar a few weeks back but can't locate where I saw it or where to purchase one. Have you seen the BLACK Husqvarna lightweight bar?
No but I did hear something new was in the works. Sugi’s are great. I’ve run two and like em a lot. I think Tsumura are very comparable. Anything shorter than about 24-28 and they really aren’t much lighter than other stuff.
Recently acquired. 1972 Homelite Super XL 925 It's been sitting for years. The tank was drained before being put away though. I have good spark and 145 psi compression. I'm going to clean it up and mix up 32:1 fuel this weekend and see what happens.
I ran one of these years ago at work IIRC it was a great saw. All the employees wanted to use it on the weekends.
Word on the street is you shouldn't do a lot of bore cutting with them. No personal experience but it was told to me by someone I trust/respect.
I don't bore cut much we have little tree's. that's what guy's say about tsumura the tips fail which I have about 30 of those bar's. Since the 80s If they hold up half as long as my tsumura I'll be happy They were only 40.00 shipped on sale.
Tackled a pile of White Oak logs today with the 261 and 371 and turned them into splits. 80 today phew
