Went to go split some oak yesterday afternoon. It's the 3rd day in a row over 55 degrees. Walked through my rows and could hear a buzzing noise. Stopped and noticed a pile of bees buzzing around the wood shavings and my fresh stack of white birch. Must be some sweetness in that wood from sap running last week when I cut the tree! I've seen them early in the season on fresh cut Beech also. With low food sources I guess they'll try anything that gives them any nourishment.
