Got a message from my BIL with this image from our local merchandiser.

So I called and set up a meet. Guy has 6 acres he wants the dead wood removed from. Spotted a couple nice pieces of ash & a couple dead standing locust. Got busy on the ash and dropped 2 of the locust. They were pretty far gone unfortunately. Here’s some pics of the haul. Load 1:

This was perfect for dad. Right by the road and not much carrying. We did one trip per day.
    Load 2.

More pics. Got a real nice size ash that the power company had taken down. Nice and solid.

Went back today and dropped a dead standing oak. We loaded about 98% of it. Rolled them through the woods about 15-20 yards.

Then we rolled them up on a round that was sitting flat, then “rolled” it up on the bed. I didn’t realize just how big it was and didn’t have a 60+cc saw to noodle.

This is how I left today. No plans to head back as most of the dead laying is in bad shape, and there are others cutting wood there. Not bad for a couple days work.

Nice looking white oak rounds. I cut up a bunch today that I’ll be splitting tomorrow.

Too bad about the BL being in that condition. I know it can be a crap shoot when you cut into it whether living or long on the ground. Knock on wood (no pun intended) i rarely see any like that.

Surprised you didnt have a noodle saw with you! Did you end up using what saws you had?

Yep, I got to run some saws and they got some wood in return.
Completely underestimated the size of that sucker. We scoped it out but didn’t go up to it last time. I took 2, a 50cc and 56.5. Dropped the tree and bucked up most with the bigger one, then switched. About the 3rd cut I hit a stone, so I finished the job with the 357. I noodled I think 3 pieces. Where the tree grew into 2, those double barrel pieces were heavy so I cut em in 1/2.
I’m all kinda sore this evenin. :BrianK:

    Wow! Great work!

Sidebar: How do you like that trailer? I've been looking at the galvanized versions of those. I need to replace an old Harborfreight 4x8 that a tree fell on.

Nice job Jason. Ash, BL, and oak. That's hitting the trifecta! :makeitrain"

Those size rounds IMO are ideal.

Yeah those oak rounds get real heavy and quick as you increase diameter. Good work!

    Awesome score!

Hey when did you get the new truck? I like it! 5.7 in that rig? I must've missed that somehow.

SWEET!! That's a nice score Jason! It's great that you get to spend time with your pops and makes it even better when your helping him out. I'm betting he's a pretty happy dad and very appreciative of your hard work to say the least.
