My wife and I went for a 5 mile walk yesterday, then picked up some strip steaks for this week at the only grocery in the area that had a somewhat good deal on steaks. 8.99/lb for Strips, OK, every other steak cut they had was almost $15 a/lb. When you can buy crab legs for less than steak, that's stupid.:loco:

Got home, washed my truck, then grilled out shrimp on the barbie.

Then I used the pole saw again. I trimmed more of the dead ash that will be coming down soon. This just will make less cleanup later. It will also be safer for the arborist to drop these two trees. we wanted to watch the ISS flyover at like 7:30. It did, and conditions were great to watch it. :binoculars:

We had a fire in the patio fire pit and stayed out there having drinks and listening to music until 11pm.

We might do the fire outside again tonight. It wasn't that cold, and the fire was nice, so it was a lot of fun and a great way to burn those twigs and branches up. I even made a handful of ash rounds that can go in the stacks for 2022/23 as I cut a branch that was about 5" thick.

Today, I'll probably start the burn barrel and get that area set for a crap ton more branches and twigs when the ash trees are felled.

Badger and Hayden had a great day yesterday and will be tired today, maybe. Every day that Hayden can learn more from Badger is blessing.

When we came back from our 5 mile walk, Badger was at the door to greet us with one of Haydens squeaky toys.

Didn't you have a stump(s) that you were going to burn out? Piling that stuff on the stump to get it started works well...

I do. I think we are just going to stump grind them out.

That idea of burning them out didn't pass the Supervisor's criteria. Just too far redneck for her. LOL Californians:whistle::rofl:

I think I'll try that out on one of the stumps that's in the back yard, where the neighbors can't see, and neither can the Supervisor, unless she takes a walk.:zip::rofl:

Started the tear off of the old siding of the peak facing the back yard. Replacing with new shaker look vinyl.

Started this last year but winter moved in before I could finish.

Two layers of siding, asbestos over painted wood. Love the attention to detail the original "carpenter" took in his sheathing work. :)

Last year I found out he used old concrete form boards with concrete still attached.

Have to love old houses. :)

Are you going to fill those gaps in somehow, or just run a couple of layers of wrap/ insulation to help cover it?

Yeah I'll tear off the old and replace with some plywood. Of course with the price of wood now, I may have to take out a loan. :)

    Family Life
    By Pastor Dan Hickling
“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.”—Colossians 3:18-19 (NKJV)

A relationship with Jesus changes everything! There’s no aspect of our lives that gets sealed off or compartmentalized from Christ’s presence and influence. He cares about and has a plan for absolutely everything in our experience, especially when it comes to one of our most powerful and profound influences . . . our families!

Paul defines what a family of Christ-followers should look like, and it starts with the relationship between a wife and husband.

Wives are to “submit” to their husbands. In the Greek, the word for submit means “to place in an orderly fashion under something.” Just as an army needs an order of authority to be effective, God desires that wives recognize and respect their husband’s leadership of their households. This doesn’t mean a wife is any less than her husband. It simply means there’s a difference in responsibilities that allows for an order that allows for greater effectiveness.

In turn, husbands are to “love” their wives. Now, that may not sound like a big deal until you realize the word here for love is the unconditional and sacrificial kind of love that God has towards us. This means a husband is to put the well-being of his bride above his own, and to live in such a way that prioritizes her.

“Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.”—Colossians 3:20 (NKJV)

Next, children are to obey their parents in all things. No child is perfect, and every child will be disobedient at some point. But the life between child and parent is to be characterized by obedience, which literally means “to listen to.” They are to be open to what their parents say and honor their place over their lives.

The Lord wants His followers’ families to function in a very specific way for a couple of reasons. First, when families function according to His will, they’re also bound to be supportive, stable, and life-giving. They won’t be perfect, but they’ll be much healthier than those that are operating outside of His will. That’s just good for everyone in the family itself!

Lastly, and even more importantly, a family that’s ordered according to God’s purposes will bring glory to Him. Fewer things shine as brightly in our world today than a family where all is as it should be. It gets noticed, and when it does there’s an unparalleled opportunity to give honor and credit to the One responsible for it.

DIG: How does a relationship with Jesus affect family life?

DISCOVER: Why does God have a specific order for families?

DO: Assess how aligned your own family is with the family life Paul describes.

Our Pastor's sermon yesterday was Keys to a Happy Marriage. He started by saying that when the foundation of the marriage is built on Christ, it is as you wrote "a family that’s ordered according to God’s purposes will bring glory to Him."

With today's lumber prices, that may become popular again.

I just had the influenza vaccine (supplied by work) now I have to wait 15 minutes before I can drive home. I hope I get home before the rain starts again.

Another awesome weather day here. Full sun and 61. Went for one walk with my wife through the woods and then another by myself while she was relaxing and then getting her horse chores done. And took down all the plastic off the porch. Dam straight!

My daughter has given me another project to get done. :picard:I need to build a framework that she can put her netting over that she protects her chickens from birds and such with. She wants her outdoor pen to be larger this year.

No it’s usually pretty dry but this year we have had a wet summer. We have not had to worry about bushfires unlike last summer!
