    My bill went down last month. I guess my wood heat uses a lot less energy when it gets colder.

    It wouldn't surprise me in the least if quite a few clueless customers were wailing on the phone to them about their higher bills.

    The boiler is 20 yards from the meter. Maybe they will change their mind when they get here.

    Nah, they'll just make some meter adjustments to "hide the decline" of your usage just to even things up.
