It's been in the 60's and 70's the last few days. No fires and I completely cleaned out the firebox. Currently 38 now, dropping down to 25 tonight, and we are burning sugar maple and ash. And, after another long week I am enjoying the product of a local craft brewery. As always, peace and love to y'all!
30f and enjoying some birch i just got going from last night's coals. Heading for 55f today. I am burning a fire in the morning and one in evening to keep the house comfortable, and the furnace off.
16 for the morning walk today. Calm winds and it didn't feel anywhere near mid teens.....humidity must be up.
33 with pine to take chill off. Doing a single fire or none all week. Calling for cooler weather next week, might need to go to 2 fires.
Got to 51 yesterday. 19 overnight. Forecast 52 and sunny then turning a bit cooler for a while. We must remember it is still March. Love that sunshine though.
We had 14.3 this morning with a strong sun today, more cherry and yellow birch went in the wood stove. We might have some single digit temps on a few mornings but like Backwoods Savage , the sun feels great.
I haven't seen Yellow Birch since I was in Maine. I always liked the look of yellow birch trees and would love to have enough to mill up to build things with.! -27° F ambient here this morning. Aspen in the stove. Nice and pretty out.
-27* spruce keeping it 72* inside, coffee is brewing, yellow birch, cherry or any other hardwood would be nice. Where I am it spruce with some popple and a little white birch.
Most of these if not all are not that big, you could mill them but they wouldn't give you much wood. The ones I take usually have damage to the tops and or the base.
57° outside. Had some ash and norway maple going this am. There's still heat radiating, but the blower is off. I think we might have a fire on the patio tonight.
