Some pics of the edge of the field where the farmer is allowing me to cut anything that is leaning towards or shading the field. First pic is looking north at what I have done so far and second picture is looking south. There is one tree I am undecided on in the area I have done. Kind of hangs over the field a little bit nothing like the ones I’ve removed already. Figure I’ll talk with him next time he’s out there and see if he wants it down.
Your pics remind me of the fall of 1994 at our old farm. We had just moved there that summer and needed the next winter's heat. I went along the fields to drop ash like that. It was the easiest workup of trees I've ever done. The ash burned perty well for being off the stump for only a few months. Wouldn't recommend it. 3 years seasoned is a LOT better... ... ... Thanks for the pics Haftacut ... nice job.
Mostly cherry, red oak, and elm. All the big stuff has been cherry or red oak that I recall. First I started by cutting back all the scrub trees. These were anywhere from 4-10 inches and grew between the edge of where the farmer planted and where the bigger trees grew. This allowed me to process these trees and get them out of the way for when I started falling the bigger stuff. First pic has pin of fencerow I removed this winter and second pic has pin where I took pictures facing north and south today along edge of woods.
Glad to bring back good memories for you Its been a lot of work, but I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s helping the farmer out, and I can come and go as I please. He’s gonna take care of the brush and he’s given me liberty on the project which has been nice.
