Just picked up a ton through my work, 5 bucks a bag. Anyone else burn them? What are your thoughts? They seem to be pretty hot for the price, and the ash isn't bad.

The only negative we see for W&S is that their angle of repose is pretty high, which means they tend not to flow as freely into the slide plate area as most other brands.....not a real big issue, but youll likely see that the hopper wont completely empty before the auger starves for pellets

I bought 16 bags of W&S a few weeks ago, and the reviews I read spoke of this happening. I put 1 bag of W&S in the stove(Harman Accentra) and they burnt fine. When the hopper was almost empty I threw a bag bag of Cubex on top of what was left of the W&S, and less than an hour later the stove was shutting down for lack of pellets. I mixed the pellets in the hopper around with my hand and they started feeding again. This is the first time in the 5 years I have had the stove that this has happened. Will be mixing the the W&S with another brand in the future to hopefully avoid having this happen again.

This has happened with every pine pellet I've ever burned. It's a trade off. You'll get some of the best heat and lowest ash possible, you just have to mind the hopper and keep it topped off regularly.

Interesting. I've been burning them for a week+, haven't had an issue, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. I'm burning them in a harman p43, I've been running green supremes in it, no issues.

To anyone else picking these up, they burn fairly hot, but dirty up the glass quite a bit. The ash isn't as but as green supremes, but it's grainy, and seems to be more prone to clinkers. If I can find them cheap again, I'll get them, but it's not worth the extra 70-100 a ton over green supremes imo. Maybe if I REALLY needed to crank the stove on cold nights, but a low btu pellet does fine in my small house. Ash content seems pretty low, so maybe a good choice if you have something with a small pan.

I burned 3 ton of W+S last year. A bit sticky in the hopper, you just need to keep the hopper loaded. These burned very hot, very little ash and didn't dirty the glass any more than other high end pellets. I'd buy again but wife likes Vermonts.

For some reason when I did a search for Wood & Sons on the site this thread didn't show but did in a Google search for Wood & Sons.
Thinking about getting 3-4 tons of them for next season. I have a hopper extension on the P43, always add a bag when the extension is empty so the main hopper is always full so I'm not worried about the sticky factor.
