After bucking up this pile of ash about a month ago, before the polar vortex, with the MS462c, I finally got it split. Yesterday I split the two face cord that are stacked with the County Line. Today I decided to get a little workout in with the splitting maul! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
I spy with my little eye.... metal wires spanning in between the stakes, for added support. That's a neat idea
Hydraulics are nice, but nothing limbers you up like swinging the maul! Did some myself yesterdayDont give it up till you have to
Oh, I'm sure you had it to, but that cold we had was not fun. Heck, when it got up to 20 shortly there after, I was washing my truck outside. So today at 42 was easy to take the jacket off while splitting! Thanks! Sure is a little wire spanning between. Works great to hold the posts together. I'll have to give credit to my father in law for that one. I'll have some Brew's waiting for you. It's cold enough we don't need a cooler! We are going to Florida at the end of April, so on the days I don't make it to the gym to get my dad beach body ready, I decided today that it was time to swing that maul. Ash is so easy to split as well. It's my original method for stacking firewood. I used to have room for 10-12 full cord in between t-posts. I have now graduated to building permanent firewood racks out of palettes and scrap lumber/plywood/sheet metal. I now have room in these wooden racks for 57 face cord (19 cord). Then I also have room in the T-posts for another 20 face cord. At the moment sitting with 55 face cord CSS with a total capacity of 75 face cord (25 cord) Thanks!
Stacks look great, hand splitting is for the... young. Lol. Only hand splitting I do is for the smoker. More power to ya's.
Frozen Red Oak splits awesome by hand. They just fly off the splitting maul! Cut and split a 1/3 of a cord today. Wood Yard Exercise!
You’re still having some pretty cold weather....I’m jealous! Split some white oak a couple weeks ago that did the same thing. Wish it all split like that
It's a heat wave around here, ha, Supposed be close to breaking records on Tuesday. I think it got up to 40.6 here today. It might get up to 58 on Tuesday. Way over normal! I'll take it. We had snow in October, so I think mother nature is being nice to us. The oak logs I am cutting are buried in snow and don't get much sun. I'm sure they still have the cold that was here 3 weeks ago stuck in their loins.
I was working on my big round pile the other day and when I got near the bottom, everything was frozen solid! Be interesting to see how late I am finding snow/ice buried in there! Great looking splits and hard to beat the red oak!
