Was meant as a bit of a joke. Beautiful drive down the blue ridge highway. Although I wouldnt walk around that neighborhood anymore. I’d have to have an atv to get the mail :)

We are loosing red oaks here in Michigan to "Oak Wilt". It's wiping them out left and right.

    MichiganOakWilt.org

Oak wilt is a fungal disease that affects oak trees. As the name implies, oak wilt causes leaves of affected trees to wilt and turn brown. It is fatal for red oaks, including northern red oak, pin oak, scarlet oak and black oak. White oaks are affected but may survive. The incidence of oak wilt has greatly increased in Michigan in recent years.

The ash trees getting wiped out was a bad deal but hate to hear about the oak wilt.

Oak wilt is here also, There are several within a few miles of my house, that is why the State Park by me is taking several down. I have a big one that needs to come down, it about makes me sick to thick about cutting it down but it needs to be done.

Yep, it's getting bad, then you've got the Black Beech disease as well. How come we can't have Willow wilt & Cottonwood borers or something like that. Seems it's always the good trees that get hit.

I hear ya. I cut down some mulberry trees that were in the neighboring farm field. Drug the wood on a sled across the horse pasture using a harness and was darn near out of breath when I got to the wood shed.

I know that I'll be shocked when I go back to the woods hopefully this week.
My left bicep ain't near what it was pre complete rotator cuff detachment injury and reattachment surgery.
Saw feels good in my hands again . But 60 ain't 50 or 40. One reason for building a big sled. If all I can do in a day is one sled load. At least it will be a big one.
