Even with the hopper facing the window: I'd still pull that top valance panel off, until you fully test run / get a good feel for the stove. Just a thought.

I agree 100% on that idea CF.

    Should not be an issue....Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt....
I am not sure how hot that pipe is gonna run.

Our Quadrafire 1000 will run at 250 F plus when its heating the house up from a cold power outage situation.

I can see the Temp on the Wiseway getting that hot or more....at least close to the stove connection.

    Outdoors is a moot point.

That valance needs to be cleaned anyway....Been up there since about 2000 when the daughter graduated from HS
A good shaking out will do a world of good....

I was looking at the BROWN tile.
That is just not gonna work. It clashes big time with the redish color of the flooring.

We need a light color in the White, light gray, White with a subtle pattern.
The added dark brown just sucks the light from the room.

The white tile under the big whitfield is cheery and reflects the ambient light well.

Gonna head back to the Depot and have a peek see at options.

Sadly...once ya put the tile on the pad.....it's there.

Unlike painting....Just go get a pint of the color YOU THINK WILL WORK and cover a spot or two on key walls....then live with it for a few days and then see what shakes.

Can't do much after you lay a bunch of tile.....except cringe every time you look at it.
Here is a piccy of the room with just the light colored plywood....much brighter.
White tile will add even more brightness.

The floor is dark, couch is dark, coffee table is dark, drapes are dark.

Originally we had a TV projector at the rear of the room that displayed on a pull down screen.
    We wanted the room dark.

Now we have a 60 inch LED TV which does not need the dark room.
    Times and things change.

Made another trip to the Depot and bought a couple tiles.

Drove home and tossed them on the floor...Yeah buddy.
Drove back down and grabbed 3 cartons of tile, mortar and grout.

Went to the steel yard and got the frame material.

    All ready to rumble now.

Best part is the tile will not need to be cut.

48 wide by 40 deep...tile are 7-7/8" so with the grout gap....comes out perfect.

    I'm pumped.....

Weather was off and on yesterday with some dry slots....
I managed to get the 3/4" plywood base trimmed up to the actual size I wanted....since the guy at the Depot cut it to 40-1/4" instead of 40" (48" X 40" )
Cut off the corner of the plywood just a touch so it will not hang up on the corner welds inside.
Mitered the corners on the steel angle so they can fit together.

Just need to get the stuff outside now and weld up the frame.

Today is supposed to clear off and be halfway decent.....

Give me an hour or so and I can get that frame all stitched together.....

Once the frame is done.....The plan is to glue the plywood into the frame with liquid nails and the pile several bags of pellets onto the assembly to weight the wood down and get things flat.....The plywood has a very slight bow of about 1/4" in the center of the 48" span....

Once glued to the frame.....Good to go.

    I will get pics ASAP.....

Goal is to get the pad completed, then get the stove purchased and here in the house.....then the vent system can be figured out, material gathered up and then installed.

At this time....the actual vent plan is still a basic idea, but it will take actual real time measurements to get things absolute as far as what we need.....

I DO NOT TRUST THE SKETCHES THAT COME IN THE INSTALL MANUAL....

Measure twice...maybe three times and cut/buy once.....

Lazy day today with the cruddy weather. Think I'll make a pasta sauce in the crockpot and maybe stuffed shells for diner? Or maybe some baked ziti? Wish I could get some Italian bread, But our local bakery has closed its doors due to the tough times.

Ya all have a great weekend! :)

    Yea smokeshow, even you! :p

That is the one thing I like about steel....JUST WELD IT BACK ON..
I got a good shot of dry weather this morning and welded the pad frame up.
Got it all done and back upstairs.

Lays really flat on the floor and the plywood lays in very nice.

Gonna put some craft paper under the frame....then put liquid nails on the steel frame and toss the plywood in ....put 4-6 bags of pellets on top of the plywood to hold it flat and firm until the L.N dries.
    A few pics

Very nice! I like how slim it is. I had to make mine way too high, because I needed to clear the radiator with the pipe, or pull it further from the wall and put an ash clean out inside. I chose a fat hearth. Eventually I might paint it, but I don't mind the unfinished wood.

Sometimes ya just have to do what ya gotta do.

Here is my big Whitfield which is just to the Right of where the new stove is going.

I used a 2" x 12" wood frame to get the stove up so it would blow over the furniture and circulate well......
The little brother to the Whitfield is on a skinny pad.

G it's funny, that's the exact same thing I said after test driving a Gen1 Ridgeline. On my second Gen2 Ridgeline now, one of the best vehicles I've ever had. Nice looking ZR2 you picked up, congrats.

Busy day yesterday and today is gonna be more of the same....
Weather is fabulous until late Thursday....then the wet returns.
    Maybe some snow too.

Loaded up the outfit yesterday afternoon and hauled in a load of shells, gonna head out about 7:30 our time this morning to go get another load.

Son in law needs the trailer to haul the last load of hay for the horses they bought back before the ice/snow storm.

So we gotta hustle and have the trailer unloaded by about 2 pm or so this afternoon.

This will fill up the stocks really well.
Likely do one more load...or in another month.

I want to head into summer with the stock of shells up to full capacity.

Trying to get the big 20 KW gen set back to operating condition....been sitting for several years now.
Adding a new fuel tank in the gen shack (50 gallon truck side mount step type tank....

The old outdoor tank is too old and I do not trust it any longer (Bottom may have rust inside and a leak would be a real mess.)

Ordered up 250 Feet of URD direct burial electrical cable to get the well house power off our main transformer and also to allow the well to run off the gen set.

Biggest PITA during a power outage is not having water for the horses.....not to mention the house.

And outages usually come when its cold and snowy.....

    Busy busy.

Then the Wiseway project is still on the front burner....

Been doing a bit more research on venting requirements.....Spoke with a big dealer down south of us that sell a buttload of the Wiseway stoves.

Biggy though is making good use of the dry weather......SHELL RUNS :yes:

This weekend, New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon,
is planning on administering 10,000 J&J vaccinations.
    Largest undertaking here by far..

At this point I think it’s a one and done thing. They are reaching out to people who already have appointments in April and moving them up. One shot (J&J) and they’re done! Great way to do it.

    Shell runs complete.

Two loads and 20 barrels full.

Just finished putting the outfit away.....
Gotta go haul all the barrels into the barn now.....

We will likely get one more haul as summer gets here....
Be all set for fall that way.

I suspect that this frees up space for people to get their second one
    in the timely manner recommended.

Got the stove cleaned today and the door gasket replaced. I had Rocky's stove shop come and do. I'm not up to the deep cleaning now. Need to stay away from the ash dust. physical limitations are catching up with me.
I go for my second covid shot tomorrow. Wife gets hers on Sat. I only felt them wipe my arm before the first shop, nothing after that. No side effects, pain etc. Hope the the next one goes as easy. My anxiety level has gone down now that I have received my vaccination. I was sure if I got that virus, that would be the end. Grossly overweight, CHF COPD and hypertension. Not good.
taxes are done and back. So cold here. Today not so bad as yesterday. I haven't been outside since last Thursday. I go to therapy on Thursdays. I go weeks between gas ups. So much now I can order on line and have delivered.

We had quite the wind storm starting last Monday night lasting until last evening. Made it through the night with no issues. Around 9 am a large (huge!) tree blew down about 1/4 mile from me and pulled all the power lines down with it. I fired up the generator in the motorhome and hit the transfer switch and life was good. Bring on the next storm!
