Locust fighting back !! safety glasses are always best but I sweat so bad they either fog or fall off I use a faceshield that is a screen like used on the forestry helmets I will try to get a picture for you mine has hearing muffs but you can get them with just a headgear and screen I know you hand split a lot so you do not need the hearing protection but they are secure on your head they do not fall off if I tried to hand split anymore I would need the hearing protection just to muffle the creaks and pops and groans coming from me some of those noises are loud   JB

I had a similar thing happen with a wire that shot off a wire brush attached to an angle grinder.

Except it stuck into the fleshy part of the mucus membrane at the corner of my eye.

Just pulled it out, hoped for the best (no infection), and now I wear my trusty safety glasses whenever using the grinders, splitters, or saws.

Don't want to have to live without one of the peepers.

With your weather hiatus you’ve stored up too much power. Back it down a notch.

Which reminds me...I’ve been meaning to pick up one of these for splitting...had a few close calls myself, especially with the hydraulic splitter. Now I’ll make sure to get one.

It seems like everything I do outside is dangerous.
Whether it's projects around the house, like woodchucking, or the never-ending restoration / maintenance of the house, shooting steel targets, or at work at the garage, I'm almost always getting things flung at my face.
I've had metal shards come off grinders, high pressure diesel burst from fuel rails, and just yesterday I had a rusty chunk of drive shaft fling off as I was checking a transfer case under a dump truck. I've been in car accidents where the windshield shattered and covered me with glass. You just never know.

I never ride my motorcycles without a full face helmet and the visor down. I always wear eye protection when riding my mountain bike.

So these days I ALWAYS wear my Oakley Gascan glasses with clear lenses whenever I leave the house. I'd hate to loose my eyesight; that's probably something I fear the most.

    Stay safe out there...
