Took a live skunk to mayor's house.

Sometimes stinky wheels get greased, or something like that, right? Have an abandoned house that for years has been a thorn in the side of the neighborhood. Have had all sorts of critters and druggies use it as a place to squat. 5 years ago trapped 12 skunks out of it, got a petition and every neighbor signed it and the city did nothing. Saw a couple last week and one neighbor got out the live trap. Tonight we had one and I had it with dealing with the stink. If it hurts you learn! Neighbors didn't think I was serious but I was. I took a blanket to sheild me from the worst of it and tossed it over the trap, loaded him in the back of the pickup and drove over to the mayor's house and walked up to his door with it. You should have seen the look on his face when he asked why it smells like skunk and I held out the trap to him and said this is a live one and sat the stink cat at his feet to leave some aroma to encourage action. We talked and I offered to leave him the evidence and he politely refused. Came home after disposing of it. Neighbors couldn't believe I did it and laughed their heads off. A little while later he came by and told me he is starting papers to condemn the house. Kinda makes me wonder what kind of kids my mother raised.

I'm rather impressed by how my concoction took the smell out of my clothes. Threw them in the washer, sprinkled some baking soda, a squirt of dawn dish soap, a cup of laundry detergent, 1/2 a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, and shaved 1/4 of a bar of Fels-Naptha soap in and washed with warm water. Amazingly odor free when they came out after the 2nd washing.

 

PERFECT!! Job well done!! this how it should work.

 

Wouldn't matter. They'd find some committee for it and give it an appointment!

 

That's great Greenstick !! Too many people in "power" have the attitude of who cares it doesn't affect me. When you know if that was next tontheir house they would have had it taken care of right away.
I have a neighbor who owns property and rents 2 homes. Doesnt live there. Behind the one house up in the woods has started putting junk cars and metal junk. He has another property and has junked that one up. Township does nothing, even though he's breaking all kinds of ordinances. I'm thinking of calling the DNR, because I'm sure those cars leaking fluids. I wish I could use the skunk idea.

I used to work for parks for a brief while. Skunks would be live trapped and then transported a few miles down the road to be released on the other side of an constantly flowing stream. It was the park managers thought that skunks would not cross water; thus preventing their return appearance in the park.

With a live trap (of course) the entire trap would be covered with an old canvas. The trap door was solid. Once the trap was tripped, Check slowly, carefully, quietly to verify the contents of trap. Load the trap the same way into the park truck....slowly, carefully, quietly and while keeping the cover on the trap at all times! The process is repeated to set the trap onto the ground and then open the door. And wait. Sometimes, the wait was 15-20 minutes before the skunk decided to leave.

One of the last ones I released took an extra long time to leave but eventually and slowly, it left on it's own. Went over to pick up the trap and leave the release scene when lo and behold, there was one more skunk in the trap!
