I've been paying much better attention to our new Eco65. It's burning better since cleaning but still dumping coals into the ashpan on levels 5 and 6 (1 is low 6 is high), atleast they are coals and not little charcoal rat turds. I should mention we lost our cap in the wind, he has not put new one on yet, it's been capless for atleast a year likely longer, and it was dead calm here a couple days so I'm not sure that's the issue. What I did notice is there are only holes on 1/3 of the exit end of the burn pot, the other 2/3 towards the auger feed is solid. I could swear the burn pot in the other stove had holes in most of it. For now, we're still warm in here and run the woodstove too when temps go below zero anyway.

Been offline for 48 hours....ICE STORM
    WHAT A MESS.

Used the 4000 watt Harbor Freight generator to run the two Quadrafire 1000 stoves.
    One upstairs...one downstairs.

    The gen set did great....
Ran about 9 hours on a tank of gas......

    No sweat handling both stoves....

We rarely run the Quad upstairs.
It's been idle since 2009 when we installed the 2 Whitfields.

The Whits give a nice even temperature as opposed to the stat operated temp swings.

$6.19 per bag of pellets. OMG
I bought 10 bags. of pellets

That $61 will buy 3200 pounds of shells (.019 cents per per pound 2 cents a pound)

Pellets at .1547 cents per pound...16 cents per pound

Starting to get things back to normal around here.
Still have a big pile of debris to clean up in the yard and driveway
Put the Gen set away (Ran fuel dry) and checked the oil in the engine.

Ran Munchy yesterday and filled up 2 barrels in the basement withe shells.

We need to make another shell run soon....Just to get stock back up to full load.

    Spring is coming.....

The freezing rain threat here never happened......not that it was a big deal for me. If it DID happen, I just stay inside. Weather forecast for the next 10 days looks better.

I talked to Drolet customer service today, he gave me 7 things to trouble shoot once it's warm enough to turn the stove off and cool it down. Said the only possible reason is air flow. 5 are air "leaking" and 2 air is obstructed.

My experience with the Vax was no big deal. Sore arm first shot. Sore arm second shot. About 50% of the guys I went with had side effects after the second dose. Vax site was run by local Board of Health. Very efficient.

Filled the gas tanks of both vehicles yesterday. They were both down to around 1/4 tank but figured I'd get them full before the weekend price surge. As I was putting the amounts in the checkbook this morning, I got curious when the was the last time I've filled them up. For the truck, it was 1/24/21, but it has been on a couple of longish hauls in the last couple of weeks to go to Keene and Concord. The last time I put gas in the car was on 1/20/21 and I could have run the car at least another week or two.

WFH has spoiled me in the fuel department - pretty much like getting a raise without the IRS getting a big bite out of it :)
