A lot of factors to consider when seasoning wood...time is only part of the equation.

I was wondering who voted no. Figured it was due to black locust envy:rofl:

I finally got some Black Locust this past year. Maybe 2-3 full cords worth. It probably wont be burned until the 22-23 season. By then it will be around 2.5 years seasoned. I hope it lives up to all the hype!!!

I voted no for the same reason. No experience with black locust.

The nice thing about black locust is that if you have it split, stacked and off the ground, it will be fine for your great-great-grandchildren to burn. Like in 50 years.

I have about 1/3 of my 21/22 wood C/S/S in the shed, 1/3 cut but in rounds scattered all over the place, and the rest is tops from logging that are 4 years old now. All red and white oak, solid as rock. I'll be cutting 22/23 wood in the spring and summer, hoping to finally get three years ahead this year.

Anything I cut right now is for 24/25 unless I get rid of some along the way.

What is not to like! I don't get much BL but if I do I burn it nice hot fire.
I just received a log length load and will be cutting it for 2022-23 unless I need it sooner

For all of the time I had been burning wood I was using an Earth Stove insert and it took 12-13 inch wood. I now have a Lopi that can take 18 inch wood but I am cutting to 16. I still have over a year of 12 inch wood left before I get into the 16in wood.
    It all burns.

It was a weird firewood cutting season. All of what i cut and split were sawmill leftovers. Logs that either were not straight, or tree tops.

I dont have any locust on my place, so i dont burn it. But i would if i had it!!

Wow! And I thought I was going to get froggy making a nice two row stack on pallets around my fruit trees as a 5 ft fence this year.

You sir are an overachiever and makes the rest of us “pile it uppers” look bad!

I’m down to my last few loads of Black Locust. I had c/s/s around a good face cord of it back in November 2017.
It’s really great in my fireplace mixed in with some red oak. Burns for a long time, it does spark a bit, but throws off a lot of heat.
