Will make lots of spring firewood work. 2 massive white oaks and a Red Oak that is 40” dbh. It will go to a storage site while I wait for my yard to dry up. So much for easing into the work week.

It’s been a good hoarding year for sure. There is Stihl wood from the tropical storm that I haven’t hauled home yet. :saw:

Lots of work ahead...especially dealing with those stumps coming halfway out of the ground.

Woo Hoo! That’s a nice one. I’d be all over that like flies on poop till it was home, safe in my possession.

I always wonder if you bring a metal detector along and search a roof ball and cavity, what may be found. Especially in a neighborhood

The red oak stump stood back up once I cut the trunk loose. Forgot to take an after pic. I’ll see what happens tomorrow with one of the White Oaks, hopefully it will sit down too.

The land was originally owned by RJR, one of the tobacco giants, so there could be treasures.

This time of year is frustrating because it’s raining every weekend.
Ice always destroys pines and breaks limbs on Oaks. This is the first time I recall it felling big oaks. I think it’s a result of all the rain prior to the ice storm.

That would make sense. I’ve always been amazed that these huge trees survive so long and so much and then, given the right conditions, they don’t! Truly amazing plants

Supposed to get another round of ice tomorrow night that is worse than last Saturdays. The racks are full of white oak for momma to stay warm if we lose power and I’m at work.

That's a lot of tree cutting right there. Great hoard & makes for happy customers when you can get right on em. Nice work!

Forecast is for 1/4-1/2” of ice tonight and tomorrow. That will be tree armageddon if it happens. Headed to the Stihl dealer after lunch to pick up extra bars. Tree I was working on today put a 90 in a 25” bar on a 460. A big white oak was leaning on an eastern red cedar and stuff happens. First time in 28yrs of tree work that I’m going to see 2 big ice storms in the same winter. Good thing I’m tough as a pine knot and got Stihls. :dex:
