I have thought about beefing up the suspension on my truck as well, but wondered if I did that, thus being able to really overload it....what would then become the weak spot....like would I be looking to reinforce the bed next. As this is my daily driver, i wonder how stiffer suspension would affect handling on interstates (empty of wood)?

You've brought back a stack of memories!

My dad would take me out back in the woods for firewood. He had an old school wheelhorse, Tecumseh 6hp, and an oak flatbed trailer, purpose-built for hauling wood. He cut alone (shudder) mostly standing dead, but would bring me along for loading and the long ride back to the woodshed. I remember the logging trails, and the trailer lurching over rocks. And I rode the top of the logs back home.
Twice, fully loaded, we hit squishy spots and the trailer went over with me on it...i ended up standing on the ground.

No water bottles, no cell phones, prolly 3/4 of a mile from the house or more (And farther from any other house or homestead). This was 40ish years ago, I had to be 4 or 5. Back when men were men, and trees were scared.

I’ve always thought simpler times were better times and that just seems to be confirmed in my mind the older I get. I grew up just before tech started to really take hold, and I’m very grateful for that. It’s usually not without some degree of protest, but I sure enjoy having the little critters along for the company!

Those are some good questions that I wouldn’t be able to answer but there’s a lot of guys here on the forum who have the load leveling air bags and seem to love em. If I understand them correctly, they’re there when you want em to be and not when you don’t. Just inflate or deflate as needed. This is just my wood truck/backup transportation, so I don’t have to consider all things (or worry about bouncing a big split off the side of the bed:rofl: :rofl:

Taken one step further, am I guilty of self abuse since I have to do it all myself? :loco:

I have Supersprings on my 07. They work and bolt on in minutes.
